How Pawnshops are an Asset to our Community
Pawnshops play a vital role in our community. I have worked for my step-father throughout high school by helping with inventory control, and because of this, I have been present to witness firsthand how important the pawn industry is to the community. Many people who are in need of quick cash, and cannot get it from local banks, rely heavily on pawnshops like my dad’s to pay for their monthly necessities when they are struggling financially. These short-term loans are backed by the customer’s personally owned property as collateral, which is returned when the loan is paid off. These loans are particularly beneficial in their ease of access. The customer is able to leave with the needed cash within a few minutes and without a long loan application process.
In addition, pawn shops promote sustainability by selling used goods, which lessens the burden of waste on our planet, and provides the community with high-quality jewelry and electronics for a fraction of the retail cost. I believe more people will realize the importance of pawn shops as they increase their presence on social media”
